The three-year award will support continued development Eco-metrics' state-of-the-art river ecosystem model. This model willbe applied toinvestigatethe circumstances under whichreductions in surface- and ground-water exchange (hyporheic flow) caused by excess fine sediments can alter rates of biogeochemical processing in river systems and exacerbate water quality limitations associated with excess nitrogen in streams.
